Sailing Skills
Five day course. Improve your
basic skills and techniques and
gain confidence to helm your boat
in moderate conditions. Learn
about tides, weather, good sail
trim and sail setting techniques.
Level 2 Certificate issued to
successful participants.
Improvers Techniques
Five day course. Sharpen your
skills and improve your performance.
You will learn how to sail a course
to best advantage, use of all
boats equipment, manoeuvres such
as anchoring, reefing, capsize
recovery, etc. Level 3 Certificate
issued to successful participants. |

Advanced Sailing
Five day course. Learn how to use spinnakers,
plan a passage, use of navigational
aids, trapeze and lots more. Level 5
Certificate issued to successful participants.

Level 5 sailing skills (Pre-entry
assessment)
Powerboat Level 2 Certificate
First Aid Certificate
Intensive course to give you the skills
and information to teach Level 1, 2
& 3 Sailing Courses.
Course content includes:
Teaching techniques
The ISA Scheme
Lesson planning
Group control
Use of safety boot
Use of single handers
Use of multi handers
Assessment criteria

SAILING
YEAR
1.
An activity based on the water
introduction to sailing, on a
professional basis, up to Level
3 in RYA / ISA syllabus.
The emphasis is on enjoyment
and the thrills of a new discipline
in a safety conscious environment
and includes Powerboat training
(ISA endorsed) and a foundation
in competent crew skills.
Trainees are encouraged to
get as much personal sailing
as possible and often crew in
local club racing in Kinsale.
YEAR 2.
This year concentrates on development
of personal sailing skills up
to Level 5 with a view to instructing
in this sport.
Trainees are prepared for RYA
/ ISA Dinghy Sailing Instructors
Course. This course is run as
part of second year sailing
schedule integrated in a modular
fashion.
Power-boating skills are also
further developed.
