KINSALE OEC IS A NON RESIDENTIAL CENTRE. A SCHEDULED BUS SERVICE RUNS FROM CORK CITY TO WITHIN 3 MINS WALK FROM THE CENTRE.
WE RUN PROGRAMMES FOR:
Adventure Expedition
This 3 day course places an emphasis on learning the practical skills of canoeing, sailing or rock climbing, navigation, orienteering as well as aspects of erecting your own tent and surviving in the outdoors. The Group will pitch tents, gather their own firewood, cook their own meals and tidy up afterwards. The students, who are fully involved in organizing this overnight trip, are encouraged to solve their own problems and to make group decisions.
Our highly qualified and experienced staff offer guidance and support along the way, encouraging co-operation and communication within the group. The development of leadership skills as well as the individual's personal confidence and self esteem are also encouraged .
At the end of the course the students are helped to reflect on what they have learned from their experience and how they might transfer this to ordinary life.
This course is ideal for Transition Year Students, Leaving Cert Applied Students and all types of youth groups.
Winter Outdoors Transition Year Program
Why not set aside half a day each week where the students can learn a new skill in a challenging and safe outdoor environment. While providing instruction to the highest level , our qualified and experienced staff also guide and encourage the individual students to develop their personal confidence and self esteem.
Rock Climbing
The Old Head of Kinsale is the primary setting for this coming course involving the basic aspects of rope work, setting up techniques, equipment & safety procedures.
Sailing
Experience sailing in Kinsale harbour where student learn how to rig and sail a variety of boats in a safe environment. Orienteering
Students will learn the practicalities of navigation, map reading & making while improving their physical fitness.
Kayaking
An introduction to kayaking where students will learn the basic strokes and rescues as well as having an opportunity to experience the river Bandon and surf at Garrettstown Beach.
All the courses run for 1 day per week over 5 weeks, although other times and dates can be arranged to meet your needs.
